Steven Tyler Goes ‘Crazy’ on ABC’s ‘Nashville’
Steven Tyler has planted new roots in Nashville, immersing himself in the local music scene as he records tunes for his upcoming solo country album. While living in Music City, the Aerosmith legend is not only adding an unexpected new chapter to his monster of a music career but also adding another line to his acting resume.
Tyler is the first big rock star to make a cameo on the primetime program, though the set has welcomed appearances by pop icons Kelly Clarkson and Christina Aguilera, along with several country stars, including Vince Gill, Pam Tillis, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Sara Evans, Trisha Yearwood and the Band Perry, just to name a few. Nashville’s big fall premiere airs on September 23rd. A date for the episode featuring Tyler is not yet known.
The Aerosmith singer has played himself on a number of films and TV shows, including cameos on Two and a Half Men and Wayne’s World 2. According to IMDB, he’s also set to play a character in the upcoming horror film, Happy Birthday, tentatively due for release later this year.
The newly solo artist is still working on his country LP but has already stormed radio with its first single, “Love Is Your Name.”
“This is a side project, which has now turned into a love of life. I think we got something here that the radio would love to play. Look, that’s why I’m in it. I love to take the fucking power to wow to the 100th degree,” Tyler told Rolling Stone Country earlier this summer, also expressing deep love for his new city. “Nashville is a mecca of song-age. I feel like one of the Three Wise Men that saw the star falling into Bethlehem.”
